Every Story Matters: Bringing Ethnic Studies to Life

Every Story Matters: Bringing Ethnic Studies to Life is a five-session professional learning series designed to deepen educators’ content knowledge and strengthen inquiry-based Ethnic Studies instruction. Through primary source analysis, collaborative discussion, and engagement with historians and subject matter experts, participants will explore African American culture, Local Latin American history, Asian American and Pacific Islander histories, Local Ethnic Studies, and the Civil Rights of Native Americans. The series emphasizes historical inquiry, multiple perspectives, and culturally responsive instructional practices aligned with the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum.

Participants will leave with expanded historical understanding, classroom-ready resources, and practical strategies for designing inclusive, standards-aligned learning experiences that foster critical thinking, civic engagement, and meaningful connections between students and the diverse communities they study.
