Foundations of Financial Literacy
Foundations of Financial Literacy introduces students to the knowledge and practical skills needed to make informed, responsible, and ethical financial decisions. Topics include financial goal-setting, budgeting, banking, saving, credit, consumer borrowing, taxes, insurance, investing, retirement planning, financial risk, and fraud prevention. Through applied exercises and real-world scenarios, students evaluate financial choices, calculate common financial costs and returns, and develop a personal financial plan. This course is the introductory course in the Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Certificate Pathway and provides the personal financial foundation needed for later study in entrepreneurship, small-business finance, operations, and business planning.
