The primary purpose of the Comprehensive Program Review (CPR) was to examine, assess, and critique the academic program reviews completed for each of the cycles in the TCSJ Program Reviews with the ultimate focus to strengthen academic programs. TCSJ’s Coordinator of Institutional Research convened a committee to assess all program reviews completed according to this schedule. The CPR Team considered the quality and viability of each credential and/or academic concentration in the M.Ed. degree program. Information gathered in the course of the CPR was used to evaluate strengths and weaknesses, determine future priorities, and thus assist in providing information for the decision-making process.

TCSJ has maintained consistent enrollment over the past 7 years.  We are committed to growing our enrollment while maintaining extraordinary student support for program completion.

We are currently in the process of updating our most recent faculty to student ratios.

M.Ed. Retention

Beginning with the inaugural Class of 2011, TCSJ has awarded a Master of Education degree to 692 dedicated educators taking an average of 5.7 semesters to complete across all disciplines. The figure below illustrates retention – measured in time for degree completion by concentration – as of Fall 2024. In 2023-2024 our retention rate for the M.Ed. program was 91%.

M.Ed. Attrition

In 2023-2024, our Master of Education attrition rate was 9% – well below the 26% rate ascertained in a 2017 study by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.

IMPACT Intern Retention in Education as a Profession

TCSJ surveys its teaching credential program completers five years post-graduation to determine whether they are still employed in the education field. The table below provides an indication of how many graduates report that they are continuing to work as educators, five years post-graduation.

The Teachers College of San Joaquin’s Strategic Enrollment Management Plan (SEMP) shares goals and strategies which will guide college-wide recruitment and marketing efforts, from 2022-2025. The report provides background, important research, context and metrics which support each enrollment-related strategy. Action plans will be developed and assigned to each goal. Clear timelines will be created and responsible parties will be identified to ensure that we are able to make sufficient progress toward reaching our goals.

TCSJ is committed to growing the diversity of our student population to reflect the diverse communities we serve.  Below are figures based off 2023-2024 enrollment data.
